Design
I do not do anything related to Yearbook therefore I am not very skilled in the design some of the judges may be looking for however I did make some graphics for a state quarterfinal matchup. I will be learning to know more about design while in college. For now here is what I can know I can design to the best of my ability. I made all of these graphics only a day before the playoff game and stayed after school for hours working on these. I also had to make some quick changes within hours before the game started. I put my blood, sweat, and tears into making these graphics and I hope you enjoy.
This was the starting defensive lineup for Kearney ahead of the quarterfinal matchup with Nevada. I went over the starters with the Kearney defensive coordinator and tried to make the lineup as accurate as I could. I was not able to put the text in gold because it did not look good the first time and was hard to read. I really wanted to have Kearney's colors with the purple and gold but alas I was not able to do that. I am still proud of this graphic.
Here's an example of one of my failures from making these graphics for the game. As you can see the text and numbers are still in the same place however the text is purple and gold instead of purple and black. My producer pointed this out and I had to go back and change the font color and move some other things around to create a graphic ready for one of the biggest games our high school broadcast has ever done!
This graphic below was the offensive starters for the Nevada Tigers. I had to go over the starters wit the head coach of the Tigers ahead of their state quarterfinal matchup with Kearney. He mentioned the scheme of their offense which is called the shotgun wing and was developed by a man named Tim Murphy out in California. That is why you will not see any wide receiver positions. I made this graphic on Canva hoping to make something similar to what professional football graphics have for starting lineups. The color of the text is supposed to lined up with the primary colors of the team.
This is a graphic of Kearney's offensive starters for the state quarterfinal game. This offense consisted of many solid players. I went over the offensive players with the Kearney head Coach and I was able to produce an accurate roster based on what coach told me and what I saw throughout the season. The purple and black combination was much better for our audience to read and comprehend.
This was the starting defense for the Nevada Tigers for the state quarterfinal game. You will notice similar names to the offense, that is because they had a lot of two way players. While making these graphics I also was the play by play announcer for the Kearney versus Nevada game. We did the broadcast on MSHSAA-TV and not ESPN which gave us more creative freedom and then I got the idea to create these graphics.
