Photojournalism/
Video Journalism

A broadcaster's perspective

II worked a state playoff game for 102.7 KPGZ when Kearney played the Savannah Savages. But the General manager of the radio station was not able to save the photos. I am not a photographer but rather a videographer. I did Camera work for Kearney's Christmas parade this past holiday season. Photojournalism students have to attend events and get pictures. In that same way as a broadcast journalist I have to go out and get B-roll for packages which tells a story just like a photojournalist would have to. Many say a photo is worth 1,000 words and a set of videos can have that same effect.

Girls Soccer

In this clip, you can see Kearney Girls head Coach Hopkins and Coach Mueller overlooking the Girls practicing and seeing what they may need to work on for later.

Zach Grace game winning touchdown

In this video you will see Zach Grace (A tight end) lined up at the quarterback position and take a direct snap to win a game against Platte County in overtime. This was the Kearney Bulldogs first game of the 2022 season and this formation they ran was something the new head coach installed over the Summer. The formation is called the Ham package and it has been a Kearney Football staple since it was introduced in this game.

Boys Wrestling Practice

I was able to catch up to the Kearney Boys Wrestling during their 2022-23 season for practice and filmed some videos. This is a good wide shot of the team working on their takedowns and techniques as Coach walks by and gives them advice.

Boys Basketball

Watch this drill from the Boys Basketball team from the 2023-24 season as they get ready for their first home game of the season. They are running a 3 on 2 drill and really zoned in on speed because that was a big focus for them throughout the season.

Goals for the future: I have enjoyed covering sports for Kearney High School and  have gained a tremendous amount of experience at what life would be like as a journalist. Being a high school sports journalist has been fun! With that being said I will be continuing my education at the University of Oklahoma. Boomer Sooner!
